Ok, So Vacation Is Over
Why is it that you plan and wait forever for your vacation to arrive and then, blink your eyes and it's all over! However, I must say, it was a much needed vacation and I did get some rest and relaxation! We kept the vacation simple this year, we traveled to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina. That was the first time we have stayed there and it is beautiful! It was nice to be away from all the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. I enjoyed alot of time lounging on the beach, getting a tan and reading my book! I also had time to think and reflect - uh oh, watch out, Starla's had time to think-LOL! Eddie and Cade had a blast riding the waves on their body boards. They would go between the ocean and the swimming pool. I told them to just leave me where I was because I was happy....in my chair on the beach, book in hand! The skies were blue, the clouds were puffy and white and the ocean felt like bath water! There is always a constant breeze so you really didn't get too hot! I took breaks from reading my book to enjoy watching Cade and Eddie play in the ocean! Hearing those "deep belly" laughs! Well, it just makes it all worth it knowing they are enjoying such great quality time together! I love to sit back and watch the two of them! They are not only Father and Son, but they are BEST BUDDIES as well! When it comes to playing, Cade wants his Dad to hang right in there, but at night, when it's time to cuddle, he needs his Mom! I hope he always needs me! So, as you see, Eddie and I both have our specialized areas with our son! I got tickled at myself for how my life has changed so much over the years! I use to want to be right in the middle of the crowds at the beach, would never have dreamed of going to a "family area"! I have seen the sun rise and the sun set back in the day! Now, my eyelids get heavy at 10:00! Oh, and my attire has changed quite a bit as well! Believe it or not, I USE to wear string bikinis. I didn't mind walking up and down the beach in them either! Now, I wear what is called a "skirtini"! Yep, I cover up as much as can be covered up and when I walk on the beach, I put on the blessed cover-up!! Do you ever take time to think about what you use to do as compared to what you do now!! Funny how things change! Plus, in those days, I never even "thought" too much about the future, or maybe I did and just THOUGHT the future would be like my present - WRONG!! However, I am content with the way my life is now, well, maybe with the exception of wishing I could still wear a string bikini! I have to accept the facts that THOSE days are behind me! I am pretty much content with how my life has gone, there are some things that I wish I could change but when you think about it, if you could go back and change things in your past life, you would not be the person you are today! Things happen for a reason. We may never understand all those reasons, but those things do make us the individual we are today - what is NOW the present! We visited a yacht club just to look around. WOW at how some people live! There were some huge boats there! What do people do for a living that they can afford such luxuries? Cade got a thrill out of those big boats! We ate out at a variety of different places! Our first night there we went to Calabash! If you are vacationing in the area, it just is not American to NOT eat at Calabash! We went to the end of the main road and had dinner at one of the places on the intercoastal. Let me tell ya it was really GOOD! Of course, I did some shopping and Eddie got tickled at me for purchasing two or three pair of flip flops. You see, I have flip flops in every color in the rainbow and then several different styles also! I LOVE my "flops"! Hey, they were on sale!! We played putt putt at the course there in Ocean Isle. Eddie is an avid golfer and I have to BRAG!!! I tied with him in this game! Cade likes to make up his own rules as we go along! He's so funny! We were able to visit with my dear friend Kim and her husband Mark on one of our days! She prepared a WONDERFUL breakfast for us. Let me tell ya, the girl can cook! It was great to spend some time with them. Cade and Eddie enjoyed the water slide at Holden Beach and I hit the shops! (I actually bought another pair of flip flops there but don't tell Eddie) On the morning of our day to come home, I awoke early, got a cup of coffee and went out on the balcony. Sea gulls and Pelicans graced the sky and I loved watching them play around. It was peaceful. Only 3 or 4 people out walking on the beach. I took the time to rethink our week and all that had taken place and I was thankful! Thankful for the time and the memories that were made and for the opportunity to unwind and relax. I look forward to going there again someday! Now, it's back to the real world! Ahhhh, I think I could learn to love the life of leisure! ~Until Later

Hey Girl...So glad that you enjoyed your MUCH needed and WELL DESERVED vacation. It was great seeing You, Eddie & Cade, I only wish we could see one another more often. I am enjoying coastal living, but am about ready to come back home to good ol' Stanly County. I miss my friends and family! I especially miss our monthly luncheons! Once I get back, we will have to pick those back up!
Well, I'm off to the ocean to soak up some rays!
Love Ya!!!!!!!!!!
