Re-Cap Of The Weekend

Good Morning! It's Monday morning and I am at the office, yet still have my mind set on the beach! This past weekend was a nice little get away....and much needed! Julie and I left about 7:30 AM Fri. morning and arrived at Holden Beach around 11:00 (ish). The temperature was perfect and the blue sky was hypnotic! After getting settled in, we changed and headed for the beach. Ahhhh, it was so nice to sit back in my beach chair and soak up some rays. It started to rain about 30 minutes after we got there but like most beach rain showers, it passed on over in about 10 minutes. We didn't budge from our chairs. The ocean water felt like bath water....warm enough for comfort, yet cool enough to take care of the heat from the sun! I am not a big fan of swimming in the ocean but I like going out about waist deep and jumping the waves. One wave was coming at us pretty strong and I turned my back to it just as it hit....it was pretty strong and it pushed me a little. When I looked around, Julie was rolling around in the waves and all you could see was her face. Kim and I pulled her back to her feet and we laughed so hard that our sides were hurting! Kim's husband came to join us on the beach and he said he could hear us giggling as he came across the boardwalk from the parking area to the beach. Surely we weren't THAT loud...then again, we probably were! I called Eddie and Cade and left them a voicemail to rub it in that I was "kicked back" on the beach! I held the cell phone out so they could hear the crash of the waves! I know, I'm mean! LOL!!

I was so afraid that the time would go by so fast but it didn't! We had the chance to relax, talk, laugh, and just catch up on everything! I also took the time to take in every bit of the scenery that I could. The pelicans flew over a couple times and they were so beautiful! I collected a few shells to bring back for mine and Cade's collection. That night Kim made a wonderful dinner of shrimp and grits...from the Paula Deen recipe, I do believe! Kim is quite the cook and just let me tell you how wonderful that meal was.....ahhhh, yummy! She had bought fresh shrimp and prepared them herself. She is a little "Betty Crocker"! WE LOVED IT THOUGH! We sat around on their porch and talked, laughed and cut up! As I mentioned in my other post, this was exactly the medicine that I was needing! After breakfast on Sat. we went by the place where Kim bought her shrimp and I got some to bring home. We had to leave on Sat. but plan to stay longer on our next visit! Julie and I had a safe trip home and our time together in the car traveling was priceless as well! We talked as hard as we both could go and reminisced about the last 20+ years! I can truly say that it was a great trip!

I received a call on Sat. telling me that some dear friends of mine would be in town and singing at Highland Baptist Church....so Cade and I visited Highland on Sunday. Eddie had to work that night before so he was sleeping. Of course, seeing my dear friends was priceless but to hear their ministry through music was totally amazing! The service I heard was remarkable! The message rang loud and clear and touched my heart! Ahhh, another day of peace for my weekend! How great is that?

I need to put an end on this novel but I do want to say that having time for yourself ever so often is something that I highly recommend. I know that not everyone can take off on an overnight trip all the time but take the time to sit on your front porch and drink a cup a coffee. Watch the birds fly over or make sure to notice the flowers blooming nearby (wild flowers or your own garden)....savor the moment! They come far and few between. It truly is good medicine! Now, back to the grind stone. ~Until Later!!

I am so glad that you had a great time and you deserve every bit of it! I should appreciate the beach more, I grew up near there so I have a connection with it. And you have also reminded me want we need to do on Sundays. So thankful that you had a great time! I know your men were happy when you returned! Hugs from the Blue Ridge....

It was a wonderful weekend, I hated to see you guys leave...Julie's wave tumbling was so funny, I haven't laughed that hard in a while...lol.

I'm looking forward to You, Eddie & Cade coming down too. Hopefully, it will be nice weather, it's been so HOT these past two days till I have stayed in as much as possible. I need to hit the beach tomorrow...don't wanna fade...lol

Have a great night.
Love & Hugs,
Kim
